Assess Systems and Hyatt Hotels to Present Webinar on Hourly Employee Hiring Tools and Strategies for Hospitality Industry

Experts will explore effective hourly employment brand messaging, use of social media in recruiting and the importance of assessments.

DALLAS/April 3, 2012—Assess Systems will partner with Hyatt Hotels to share employment branding and hiring expertise in their webinar, “Hourly Employee Talent: Attracting and Selecting Brand Ambassadors.” The complimentary webinar, the second in a series on hiring best practices in the hospitality industry, will take place on April 19 from 2:00-3:00 p.m. Central Time.

Randy Goldberg, vice president of recruiting at Hyatt Hotels, will share some of the innovative tools and strategies Hyatt has implemented to effectively brand their employment opportunities and how the use of social media and technology has increased the visibility of open positions, leading to an increase in applicant flow. Scott McTague, director of consulting services for Assess Systems, will present compelling data showing the critical personality differences between front- and back-of-house employees and how assessments play a critical role in the decision-making process.

“From the hostess and front desk agent who greet guests at the door to the line cook who prepares the meal and the housekeeper who cleans the rooms, hourly employees are a hospitality company’s heart and soul,” said McTague. “These companies need to examine their recruiting and selecting practices to ensure they have the tools and processes in place to attract and hire hourly employees who have the unique combination of personality and experience to accurately represent their brand.”

Goldberg is responsible for the planning, implementation and evaluation of Hyatt’s recruiting programs and initiatives. He works cross-functionally to establish Hyatt’s talent acquisition strategy and integrate it into business plans and company-wide practices. These efforts have led to recent recognition for Hyatt including BusinessWeek’s “Best places to launch a career,” CollegeRecruiter.com’s top employer list and others. Goldberg has worked with Hyatt Hotels and Resorts for over 24 years and was recently on the board of International CHRIE, an association of Hospitality Educators.

McTague’s 20 years of consulting experience includes the design, implementation and measurement of strategic human resources, organizational development, and talent management systems for small, medium and large companies across diverse industries. He has consulted with many successful organizations on a wide variety of talent management and HR issues such as talent selection, talent development, performance management, succession planning, and organizational effectiveness. He holds a Masters in Industrial and Organizational Psychology and is a member of the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology.
