BUSINESSOLVER'S CORE VALUES COME TO LIFE THROUGH 2017 FOUNDATION EFFORTS

WEST DES MOINES, IOWA (December 14, 2017)–Businessolver, a leader in SaaS-based benefits administration technology, announced that during 2017, the Businessolver Foundation presented more than a quarter-million dollars to charitable organizations nationwide and led its Businessolver colleagues to contribute nearly 1,000 hours in volunteer service.

“Our employees truly internalize the ‘Technology with Heart’ part of our culture and company,” said Brooke Knight, Businessolver SVP and Foundation Director. “It is evident by the time and treasure they give to the charities the Foundation supports. That spirit of selflessness is what drives the Foundation and brings it to life in our communities.”

Incorporated in 2016, the Businessolver Foundation supports local and national organizations dedicated to the betterment of health, education, and community. Its fundraising efforts and volunteer activities align with the company’s core value to ‘Give Back’ to the people and communities where Solvers live and work. Under Knight’s leadership, as of November 2017, employees mobilized to raise more than $10,000, and volunteer more than 800 total hours, a 91 percent increase from 2016. Under the Foundation banner, Businessolver in 2017 presented more than $250,000 to organizations across the U.S., including contributions to national relief efforts following this year’s devastating hurricanes.

Carolina Pumarejo, a kindergarten teacher at Mitchell Elementary School in Houston, thanked the Foundation for its support in “giving us the opportunity to get back to our lives and classrooms after Hurricane Harvey. We learn something new every day, and these devastating experiences make us stronger and give perspective to our lives and [highlight] the enormous importance of the work that we do to make everything better for children.”

Improving Americans’ health

In January, the Businessolver Foundation supported the Adopt-A-Wish program for Make-A-Wish Iowa, and granted a girl named Keira’s one true wish to visit St. Thomas with her family, then hosted a welcome home party for her – complete with gifts and her favorite things.

The Foundation was the marquee presenting sponsor for the fifth annual Couture for a Cause, benefiting Children’s Cancer Connection, a Des Moines-based organization whose mission is to enhance the quality of life for Iowa families affected by childhood cancer, by providing programs for education, recreation, and support. The April event raised $68,000 to help Children’s Cancer Connection provide life-enhancing services and support to young patients and their families.

In July, the Foundation was a proud sponsor of the 2017 RAGBRAI (The Register’s Annual Great Bicycle Ride Across Iowa), the world’s largest and longest recreational bike ride. Employees dedicated the seven-day ride across the company’s home state to Chris Charron, a former Solver and RAGBRAI enthusiast, who died tragically from heart complications. Businessolver teamed up with the American Heart Association and Hy-Vee to conduct blood-pressure screenings and heart health checks at host towns along this year’s RAGBRAI route.

Solvers from the company’s regional hub in Denver rode in support of the Courage Classic, a two-day mountain bike race benefiting The Children’s Hospital in Denver. The team rode more than 120 miles, and raised more than $10,000 for the hospital.
Advancing American education

The Foundation’s annual scholarship program – open to high-school seniors who are dependents of full-time Businessolver employees – awarded nearly $20,000 in scholarships to 16 students to support them in attending an undergraduate college, university, or trade school.

This summer, Businessolver renewed its commitment to support Junior Achievement of Central Iowa, which provides programming for more than 32,000 K-12 students throughout central Iowa. Its mission to help young people transition into 21st century life aligns with the Foundation’s vision of building a healthy, well-educated world where community matters. The Businessolver commitment includes continued sponsorship of the Businessolver Distribution Center within the JA BizTown facility and ongoing targeted sponsorship of classroom programming within the state of Iowa.

Supporting America’s communities

Following the aftermath of Hurricanes Harvey, Irma, and Maria, the Businessolver Foundation mobilized Solvers and clients in the relief effort, donating $7,000 to organizations on the ground in Texas, Florida, and Puerto Rico helping to rebuild infrastructure and restore normal life to Americans suffering there.

Solvers also put their spirit of service to work at home in Des Moines this fall; employees based at company headquarters partnering up with GuideOne Insurance and the Greater Des Moines Habitat for Humanity to build homes and hope for Iowa families in need.

“It’s my joy and honor to come to work each day and help channel my fellow Solvers’ drive to give back,” said Knight. “The genuine care, empathy, and thoughtfulness our employees show toward their community and country continues to amaze and inspire me, and I know the ripple effects of that care are felt throughout communities across the nation.”
