WOBURN, MASS — May 23, 2011 — HealthcareSource®, the leader in talent management software for the healthcare industry, today announced the addition of a significant new capability for physician retention in version 3.0 of HealthcareSource Physician Recruitment Manager®, its software solution which helps healthcare recruiters and HR departments streamline and automate their processes for physician recruitment and retention.

The new physician retention feature for Physician Recruitment Manager improves how hospitals connect, engage and get feedback from their medical staff, and newly hired doctors in particular. In order to improve their success and retention, new physician hires can be automatically surveyed 30, 60, 90 days after their employment begins. Through these periodic surveys—hospital HR managers can identify issues that emerge during the onboarding phase. By seeking physicians’ opinions, and learning what difficulties they are facing in their day-to-day work lives, hospitals can then act to address those issues.

Additionally, Physician Recruitment Manager now helps hospitals manage the documents and licenses of all of its physicians. Departmental recruiters/liaisons will be notified when individual doctors’ licenses and contracts are set to expire, allowing for a streamlined renewal process.

“According to the Association of American Medical Colleges, the U.S. could face a shortage of as many as 150,000 physicians in the next 15 years. That’s why more hospitals are looking for an edge to attract and retain superior physician talent,” said Michael DiPietro, VP of Marketing and Product Management. “The new physician retention functionality in HealthcareSource Physician Recruitment Manager delivers two-fold benefits: physicians will have a stronger voice to share how they feel about their jobs, and their hospital employers will have better information to help in retaining quality doctors. Given the negative financial impact that high physician turnover can have on hospitals, investing in physician recruiting solutions that improve retention is strategically smart.”

“Physician Recruitment Manager has been a very powerful tool for us. It allows us to organize and manage our recruiting information very quickly and efficiently,” said Mike Fitzner, Director of Physician Recruitment at War Memorial Hospital, a short-term acute care hospital accredited to serving the healthcare needs of Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. “The addition of the new retention functionality has really made the product complete as retention of providers has become more important with looming physician shortages.”
