Three Legal Jobs That Are Hot Right Now

February 8, 2016. Kansas City, Kan. — Across all industries, some legal jobs are especially hot right now, seeing higher pay increases than the national average of 2.8 percent for legal services positions, according to Compdata’s 2015 Legal Services Suite survey results. Here are the top 3 Legal “hot jobs”:

1. Legal Secretaries, Level 1, who organize and expedite flow of work through the office, including drafting legal documents, saw an average base rate increase of 4.17 percent in 2015. Employers also reported a hire-on increase of 9.07% from the previous year.

2. Paralegals, Level 2 (senior), prepare documents, agreements, and pleadings related to litigation and non-litigation matters. They resolve a wide range of legal questions under the direction of an attorney. Those in this role saw an average base rate increase of 4.76 percent in 2015. Employers also reported an average total comp increase of 4.63 percent and a hire-on increase of 4.17% from the previous year.

3. Contracts Administrators review and analyze new and/or continuing contract and service agreements to ensure the terms comply with legal guidelines, contracting principles, and cost constraints. Those in this position saw an average base rate increase of 3.77 percent in 2015. Employers also reported a hire-on increase of 9.38 percent from the previous year.
