197 Days until LEAD2016! First Three Speakers Announced

LEAD2016 is a platform to inspire the world. Touted as the “Oscars” of leadership, this event will bring leaders from across business, industry and education together to exchange with one another and witness life-changing inspirational speakers. On February 3rd, 2016, 13 speakers will be broadcast live from this event via high definition web stream technology. February 4th will be a full day of leadership and HR-specific speakers, roundtables and workshops.

With LEAD2016 quickly approaching, HR.com has announced the first three speakers, inspiring the audience on February 3rd, 2016 at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum, located in downtown Nashville, Tennessee. Three of the inspirational speakers named are:

1. Compassion: Sister Helen Prejean
Famously known for her role in the movie Dead Man Walking, Sister Prejean is the leading American advocate for the abolishment of the death penalty. Sister Prejean works alongside death row victims to help secure peace before execution. At the 68th Academy Awards, Dead Man Walking was nominated in four different categories:
– Susan Sarandon won the Academy Award for Best Actress for her role.
– Sean Penn was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Actor.
– Tim Robbins was nominated for Best Director.
– The main track, “Dead Man Walkin” by Bruce Springsteen, was nominated for his song.

2. Resiliency: Theo Fleury
Originally born in Saskatchewan, Canada, “Theo” Fleury was a Stanley Cup winning NHL player, clothing entrepreneur, proud father and award-winning author. Despite his accomplishments, Theo also suffered drug, alcohol, gambling, sex, and rage addictions before and throughout his professional hockey career. Fleury’s renowned book, Playing With Fire, gives an in-depth story about the sexual abuse he encountered as a young child from his former hockey coach. Don’t Quit Before the Miracle is a message everyone needs to hear at some point in their life. It’s about hope, about moving forward, about never giving up, even when the obstacles you face appear overwhelming and unbearable. From the greatest heights to the lowest depths, both professionally and personally, Theo shares a message about winning it all, losing it all, and reinventing it all over again.

3. Empowerment: Tacy Byham

Tacy is CEO of DDI, a global award-winning leadership consultancy that helps the world’s most successful companies transform the way they select, develop, and accelerate leaders.
