United Benefit Advisors Offers Free Webinar to Provide the Latest Legislative Update on Health Care Reform
Employers to learn about the implications of the Supreme Court decision on their health plans and how to comply in the least disruptive way
INDIANAPOLIS, July 5, 2012—Learn where employers stand now that the health care reform law has been affirmed in a free webinar led by Janet Trautwein, executive vice president and CEO of the National Association of Health Underwriters (NAHU) and sponsored by United Benefit Advisors (UBA). The special webinar, “Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) Legislative Update” will address the U.S. Supreme Court’s historic decision to uphold the requirement that individuals have health insurance, either through their employer or a state-sponsored exchange, or face a tax beginning in 2014. Trautwein will also explore what the decision means for employers that sponsor health plans, and who now must comply with this complicated law.
This webinar presentation is one of the many ongoing efforts where UBA Member Firms partner with NAHU to advocate on behalf of employers across the nation and to help employers be informed about health care reform legislation. UBA Member Firms also actively promote employers’ best interests by serving as knowledge resources for legislators and staff who need information and insight about the impact of bills on business and employees.
A frequent speaker on health policy issues, Trautwein is considered an expert in health insurance markets and health plans and frequently testifies before Congress on these issues. Prior to becoming the EVP/CEO of NAHU, Trautwein served for many years as the head of NAHU’s government affairs department, working with members of Congress and agencies of the Executive Branch, supervising NAHU government affairs staff, monitoring and analyzing legislation, writing and revising legislation, and developing policy recommendations for NAHU. In 2001, Trautwein was appointed to President Bush’s health advisory transition team to advise the President and the incoming Secretary of Health and Human Services on health issues facing the nation.
UBA Member Firms regularly provide employer customers with premium health care compliance education and now will offer non-clients free access to this event on a limited basis. Participants can attend the live webinar on Tuesday, July 10 at 2 p.m. Eastern or the rebroadcast on Wednesday, July 11 at 2 p.m. Eastern. The 90-minute webinar, normally $149 (free when you enter code PPACA when prompted), is approved for recertification credit of 1.5 hours by the HR Certification Institute (HRCI) and includes a complimentary copy of the UBA Health Plan Survey Executive Summary. The UBA Health Plan Survey is the largest health plan benchmarking survey in the U.S.
“The recent Supreme Court ruling still leaves employers to face many challenges associated with the health care reform law,” said Thomas Mangan, CEO of UBA. “This webinar is just one of the many ways our Member Firms will be out in front helping thousands of small and midsize employers (who stand to be the most affected) to navigate the unnavigable.”
