San Francisco & Toronto, September 22, 2011: Achievers (formerly I Love Rewards), the fastest growing Global Rewards and Social Recognition company, announced today that it concluded its Annual Customer Experience event (ACE) by sending a team to walk in the Shoppers Drug Mart® Weekend to End Women’s Cancers™, a fundraiser in support of The Princess Margaret, one of the top five cancer research centers in the world. Every year, Achievers selects a cause to support as part of the customer conference. This year’s cause was cancer research.
“Social responsibility is a huge part of our company culture and it’s one of the criteria for our 50 Most Engaged Workplaces award, so it’s important that we lead by example,” said Razor Suleman, Founder and CEO of Achievers. “I’m so impressed and incredibly proud that even after ACE, our biggest event of the year, the team walked 32 km on Saturday. It speaks to how much community service is ingrained in our corporate culture.”
The Achievers team, which had 15 members including CEO Razor Suleman as well as CFO and COO David Brennan, raised a total of $51,381.36. The team participated in the 32 km walk on September 10th, and were among 4,013 participants who raised a total of $9.4 million.
To date, The Weekend has raised over $121 million, enabling The Princess Margaret to support research programs and clinical trials, seed-fund the breast cancer rapid diagnosis pilot which is now The Gattuso Rapid Diagnostic Centre, expand the surgical robotics program for gynecological patients, purchase breast MRI and digital mammography machines and continue to support the first in-hospital Survivorship Clinic and Program in Canada.
“We’ve made a great deal of progress in the last ten years, but we need to keep moving forward,” said Dr. Benjamin Neel, Research Director at The Campbell Family Cancer Research Institute at The Princess Margaret. “The continued support of The Weekend community allows us to procure new leading edge diagnostic equipment and enables scientists to make continued progress in clinical trials and research advancements.”
Achievers provides a multilingual solution with 24/7 support to organizations between 500 employees up to Fortune 500 companies looking to enhance employee engagement. The Social Recognition platform provides performance-based recognition and rewards in the form of points that can be redeemed for meaningful rewards including Apple, Visa and Expedia.
