Deloitte’s Chairman of the Board, Sharon Allen, featured presenter in Human Capital Institute‘s (HCI) “Leading Ethical Organizations” webcast
Webcast Scheduled for September 21, 2010, 2-3pm ET
Washington, D.C. – September 14, 2010 – The Human Capital Institute (HCI), the global association for strategic talent management, announced today that Sharon Allen, chairman of the board, Deloitte LLP will be the featured speaker during the “Leading by Example: Ethical Leadership Best Practices” webcast.
The presentation is the latest in HCI’s Leading Ethical Organizations learning track, which was developed in collaboration with research and training conducted by Aptima, Inc. The webcast will explore the impact of ethics on building client relationships, talent management and retention strategies and an organization’s bottom line.
Often, the pressure to do more quickly can prompt leaders to take extreme risks and make unethical decisions they might not otherwise take. Even well-meaning leaders are susceptible to choosing the wrong fork in the road. Yet the world’s most ethical companies have delivered a 53 percent return to shareholders since 2005, compared to a four percent loss for the S&P 500 over the same period (Ethisphere, 2010). So, what kind of leadership is center stage of the world’s most ethical and successful companies?
As chairman of an organization with nearly $11 billion in annual revenues, Sharon Allen’s governance responsibilities include leading the efforts of the board to provide oversight and guidance to Deloitte’s management and its subsidiaries. Allen is also a member of the global board of directors of Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu, where she serves as the U.S. representative on the global governance committee and chairs the global risk committee. Regularly recognized for her contribution to the business community, Allen has been featured on Forbes’ list of “the 100 most powerful women in the world” for four consecutive years.
Top companies worldwide now recognize that ethical behavior isn’t just a moral and legal obligation of its executives, but rather a way of conducting business that delivers true competitive advantages that shape its culture and impact the bottom line. “Leading by Example” is the third in a series of eight quarterly webcasts on “Leading Ethical Organizations,” presented by expert practitioners from top ethical organizations sharing cutting-edge research and organizational best practices for building ethical workplaces.
