Comcast Business has partnered with Domestic Violence Services of Snohomish County (DVS) to upgrade the non-profit's technological infrastructure, a move that bolsters its round-the-clock support for domestic violence survivors and expands its community outreach programs. DVS, founded in 1976, operates the only 52-bed confidential emergency shelter in Snohomish County, Washington, serving individuals facing imminent danger from intimate partner violence regardless of age, gender, race, religion, culture, national origin, sexual orientation, or income level.
Through this collaboration, Comcast Business is supplying DVS with Ethernet Dedicated Internet and Voice Mobility Solutions, providing the reliability and speed necessary for the organization's network. These services form the technological backbone that supports DVS's growing operations and survivor-first approach.
Lauren Stiger, Development and Volunteer Manager of DVS, emphasized the importance of this technology upgrade: "It is crucial for our organization to be connected to survivors in need 24/7. To do so, we depend on a reliable, fast internet connection and phone service, which Comcast Business has been able to seamlessly provide." Stiger added that the technology helps ensure survivors have a safe place to turn to at all times, regardless of the situation.
The partnership addresses a critical safety concern for survivors. As using online contact methods like email is not always the safest option, DVS relies heavily on its phone system as the primary tool for connecting with those affected by domestic violence. The Comcast Business Voice Mobility Solutions are vital in maintaining DVS's crisis hotline, which must be available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Additionally, the Comcast Business EDI service provides the necessary bandwidth to support DVS's expanding individual and community awareness programs. These initiatives are crucial in the organization's efforts to eliminate domestic violence cases. They include attending local events, visiting schools to educate about healthy relationships, and conducting online webinars and virtual meetings.
Rob Brenner, Vice President of Comcast Business for Comcast's Pacific Northwest Region, expressed pride in supporting DVS: "Reliable connectivity is critical to the day-to-day operations of organizations, like DVS, that are building healthier, happier communities by caring for individuals and families in need." Brenner added that Comcast Business looks forward to continuing its support of DVS with technology that enables their team to further ease the healing process for survivors.
This partnership between Comcast Business and DVS represents a significant step forward in leveraging technology to combat domestic violence and support survivors. By providing robust and reliable communication infrastructure, Comcast Business is enabling DVS to extend its reach and effectiveness in the community. This collaboration not only enhances the immediate response capabilities of DVS but also supports its long-term goals of education and prevention.
As domestic violence continues to be a pressing issue in society, the importance of organizations like DVS cannot be overstated. With improved technological resources, DVS is better equipped to fulfill its mission of fostering a safe, judgment-free atmosphere that promotes healing and growth for individuals and families impacted by domestic violence. This partnership serves as a model for how businesses can contribute meaningfully to social causes by providing essential services that amplify the impact of non-profit organizations.
