The Mirasol Foundation, Inc. has announced a landmark year in charitable contributions, distributing more than $720,000 in grants to 49 local nonprofits across Palm Beach County. This achievement underscores the Foundation's commitment to addressing critical needs such as family and child crises, veterans' support, food insecurity, and homelessness.
The transition of leadership to Ed Glassman as Foundation President signifies a new chapter aimed at enhancing transparency, outreach, and volunteer engagement, building on the solid foundation laid by outgoing President Marilyn Wilson. In the fiscal year 2025, the Foundation not only surpassed its $700,000 fundraising target by collecting over $760,000 but also extended its support to five new organizations.
Notable beneficiaries included the Palm Beach County Food Bank, Wounded Veterans Relief Fund, and Healthy Mothers, Healthy Babies, reflecting the Foundation's broad impact on the community. The growth of the Gifts & Grants Committee to 30 volunteers has been pivotal in ensuring that donations are effectively allocated to areas of greatest need, through a thorough evaluation process of 80 proposals.
Beyond financial assistance, the Mirasol Foundation has significantly expanded its community service efforts, with over 125 volunteers contributing more than 375 hours of service in 2025 alone. Initiatives ranged from food and clothing drives to donations of diapers and formula, directly benefiting thousands in need. The introduction of MFI-TV and the establishment of a new Development Committee are among the strategic steps taken to foster long-term growth and deepen the Foundation's community impact.
Ed Glassman, the incoming President, expressed his honor in leading the Foundation forward, emphasizing the collective generosity of the Mirasol community as the driving force behind its success. Marilyn Wilson, reflecting on her tenure, highlighted the overwhelming support from the community and her confidence in the Foundation's continued growth and impact under Glassman's leadership.
For HR vendors, this news highlights the growing importance of corporate social responsibility and employee engagement in philanthropic initiatives. Companies that facilitate or match employee donations, offer volunteer time off, or support nonprofit partnerships may find increased interest from organizations like the Mirasol Foundation, which rely on volunteer committees and community involvement to drive impact. The Foundation's structured approach to evaluating proposals and allocating funds underscores the need for efficient grant management solutions that HR technology vendors can provide.
