Nov. 16, 2011 – Washington – Kathie Lingle, executive director of WorldatWork’s Alliance for Work-Life Progress (AWLP), received an award from “When Work Works” in a ceremony held Nov. 9 in Washington, D.C., during the Work-Life Focus conference organized by the Society for Human Resource Management and Families and Work Institute. In addition to Lingle, Carol Evans, president of Working Mother Media and Donna Klein, CEO and Executive Chair, Corporate Voices for Working Families, were honored as work-life pioneers who have shaped the movement from its earliest days. In her acceptance speech, Kathie shared her vision for a new, more holistic philosophy of work and the workplace, “one where workplace flexibility is no longer the subversive stealth maneuver that operates primarily in the gap between what leaders say and what they do.”
“For nearly three decades, Kathie has collaborated tirelessly to advance the work-life movement across multiple fronts,” said Anne C. Ruddy, president and CEO of WorldatWork. “Thanks in large part to Kathie, the WorldatWork work-life body of knowledge encompasses an entire work-life portfolio, which includes but is not restricted to workplace flexibility. Similar to a well-balanced and professionally managed financial portfolio, optimum organizational performance requires simultaneous investment in a core set of interconnected people strategies. It is pioneers like Carol, Donna and Kathie who have helped illuminate the beneficial effects on workers, businesses, families and communities when leaders have the vision and the courage to make work work for all stakeholders.”
