Blogging4Jobs is challenging its readers to give back in November with a dollar for dollar donation match.
For every dollar donated to Movember (an organization fighting to end male cancers) via a secure link on Blogging4Jobs site during the month of November, blog owner, Jessica Miller-Merrell, is personally matching 100 percent (up to $5,000) with a donation to Susan G. Koman (an organization fighting to end breast cancers).
November is national men’s health awareness month. The mustache is to men’s health and November as the color pink is to breast cancer awareness and October. Movember (a playful combination of the words “Mustache” and “November” is a non-profit organization which raises awareness and funds for men’s health issues, specifically prostate and testicular cancer initiatives. Supporters often grow mustaches during the month to raise awareness.
“My family has been deeply impacted by cancer and it sucks,” said Miller-Merrell. “Our readers are generous and by matching their donations to Movember with one to Susan G. Koman, we are able to help both men and women battling cancer.”
Miller-Merrell kicked off the month-long campaign with an emotional appeal and blog post detailing her family’s fight with cancer. Her father-in-law, Barney Merrell, lost a battle with cancer of the larynx, which he developed despite never smoking a day in his life, three years ago. Her sister-in-law was diagnosed with breast cancer and underwent a double mastectomy just six months after Barney’s death.
Make a donation to Movember via Miller-Merrell’s campaign. Donations may be eligible for tax considerations. See your tax advisor for details. For more information on Blogging4Jobs or the challenge, contact Jessica Miller-Merrell at Jessica@xceptionalhr.com.
