Lotus Network, a Denver-based nonprofit focused on empowering women through meaningful connections, will host its 2024 Spring Connector event, 'Reigniting the Women's Spirit,' on May 7, 2024. The event features award-winning coach, writer, and speaker Sarah Lajeunesse, known as the 'Shmealer' (shame healer). Lajeunesse will explore how perfectionism, people-pleasing, and societal pressures are rooted in guilt and shame, and how these emotions hinder women from achieving a richer quality of life.
According to the organization, the talk aims to help women identify limiting beliefs, set healthy boundaries, cultivate self-compassion, and uncover strengths for self-confidence. Lajeunesse will provide tips on releasing the burden of shame that has affected many women for years or generations, and address ways to stop unconsciously passing down guilt and shame. The event will be held at the Leach Center for the Performing Arts on the Colorado Academy campus from 7:00–9:00 P.M. Tickets are $35 and available at Connector Event 2024 Featuring Sarah Lajeunesse - Lotus Network.
Lotus Network co-founders Lisa Cook and Leslie Heins expressed hope that the event will empower women to reclaim their voices, choices, and lives by releasing guilt and shame, and better trust themselves. They emphasized the organization's commitment to providing platforms for women's learning, growth, and self-discovery through meaningful connections. For HR vendors, this event highlights a growing trend in workplace wellness: addressing emotional barriers like shame and perfectionism that can impact employee performance and retention. Vendors offering coaching, mental health resources, or diversity and inclusion programs may find opportunities to align with such initiatives, as companies increasingly seek to support women's professional development and well-being.
