Los Angeles, Calif., October 15, 2010 — Korn/Ferry International (NYSE:KFY), a premier global provider of talent management solutions, congratulates client Kristi Marsella from E. & J. Gallo Winery for winning the Chief Learning Officer magazine’s prestigious Learning in Practice Gold Vanguard Award. The Vanguard Award is for learning executives who have either launched a new enterprise learning function or completely overhauled existing workforce development initiatives in the past year. E. & J. Gallo Winery was honored for their work in building the Gallo Leadership Fundamentals and Gallo Management Fundamentals programs. These learning initiatives help to develop the critical skills that all Gallo leaders need to realize the winery’s vision of success.
“The Learning In Practice awards were established to recognize transformational and visionary leaders in learning and development,” said Norm Kamikow, President and Editor in Chief of Chief Learning Officer magazine. “More than 250 executives were nominated by their peers in 20 categories. The winners are the industry leaders who truly champion innovation and transform it into value for their organizations.”
The E. & J. Gallo program’s central vehicle is a library of video recorded interviews of the company’s top leaders on their personal journeys in leadership. In creating this video library, Marsella and the E. & J. Gallo executive team were able to creatively and effectively integrate the winery’s newly developed leadership model in a way that made the message easily internalized in a more personal format.
According to Michelle Lewis, Vice-President of Global Human Resources at Gallo, “It is an honor to be recognized by such an important and influential group as CLO. The success of the work Kristi and her team have done is the result of a powerful partnership between line management and human resources. At Gallo, we believe we win in the marketplace because of our people. What better place to invest?”
Korn/Ferry Leadership and Talent Consulting partnered with Ms. Marsella and key winery executives in developing the Gallo Leadership Fundamentals program. This unique learning initiative incorporates their history, core values, vision, and focuses on the strategic aspects of a leader’s role. In designing the program, Korn/Ferry leveraged Gallo’s ideas, company culture, and the importance of linking their people strategy to their business strategy.
The awards were announced at a special ceremony during the Fall 2010 CLO Symposium in Laguna Niguel, Calif., which attracted a sold out crowd of 400 top corporate learning executives from around the world to discuss innovation in enterprise education and leadership development.
