Washington, D.C. – February 3, 2011– The Human Capital Institute (HCI), the global association for strategic talent management, and the Management Innovation Exchange announced today the ten semi-finalists for the Human Capital M-Prize. The contest received over 85 entries from members of global organizations of all sizes who submitted a story or idea about how to enable communities of passion in the workplace. The ten semi-finalists represent organizations based in Australia, the United Kingdom, North America and Scandinavia and participants include HR Directors, Consultants and a Chief Technology Officer. For a full list of semi-finalists and their entries, visit: http://www.hci.org/lib/announcing-hci-human-capital-m-prize-semifinalists.
HCI and the MIX invited human capital leaders from around the world to invent a human capital proposal aimed at unleashing human capability in our organizations. The M-Prize targets bold ideas or radical fixes when it comes to transforming human capital systems, activities or leadership practices, so that everybody can contribute their best gifts, make the most impact, and reap the best rewards. Passion is an incredibly powerful multiplier of human accomplishment, particularly when like-minded individuals converge around a worthy cause. Yet research shows that most employees are emotionally disengaged. They are unfulfilled, so they underperform, and the organization suffers. The Human Capital M-Prize asks the question: what if they were not only re-engaged, but passionately interested, and eager to contribute more?
The Human Capital M-Prize judging phase will include a webcast prior to the final round for semi-finalists which ends on February 20, 2011. All entries will be judged by a panel of MIX Mavericks, an elite group of leading management thinkers and progressive CEOs, including Marcus Buckingham; Gary Hamel; John Boudreau, Research Director, Center for Effective Organizations at the University of Southern California and Colin Price, Global Head of the Organizational Practice, McKinsey and Company. The judges will assess entries based on: clarity of thought and originality, potential for impact, feasibility of implementation, and popularity. Judges will provide targeted feedback to finalists as they refine their entries for the final round. Winners will be announced at the 2011 HCI Human Capital Summit in Atlanta, GA and on the MIX site on March 8th, 2011.
Professor Hamel and HCI are hosting a webcast called on Wednesday, February 9th at 1:00 Eastern focused supporting the semi-finalists for the HCI Human Capital M-Prize as they update their contest entries for the Feb 20th final deadline.
