March 30, 2011 — Scottsdale, Ariz. — WorldatWork’s Alliance for Work-Life Progress (AWLP), an entity that defines and recognizes innovation, best practices and work-life thought leadership, recently announced the recipients of the AWLP Work-Life Rising Star Recognition Award. Now in its fifth year, the AWLP Work-Life Rising Star Award recognizes stellar individuals who exhibit a combination of professional and personal attributes that demonstrate emerging leadership and growing contributions to the work-life community. The recipients will be acknowledged publicly at an awards ceremony (to be held May 24) during the annual WorldatWork Total Rewards Conference & Exhibition in San Diego, Calif.
“The AWLP Work-Life Rising Star Award recognizes stellar, up-and-coming professionals who embody passion for change, for work and for life,” said Kathie Lingle, executive director of AWLP. “This is a long-term effort to identify and nurture the next generation of work-life leaders, who will continue to find new ways to ensure that every workplace becomes a great place to work.”
This year, two professionals have been selected to join AWLP’s growing community of Work-Life Rising Stars:
Kyra Cavanaugh is president of Life Meets Work, a consulting firm that helps organizations implement and improve workplace flexibility. She provides companies that are striving to be “best-in-class” with an online member-based community and services that include coaching, consulting, and training. A nationally-recognized speaker and contributor to WorkingMother.com, she has been featured in Women’s Health and Crain’s Chicago Business. Leveraging her extensive experience in the consumer packaged goods industry, Kyra dedicates her considerable energy to help advance work-life effectiveness as a productive business strategy.
Courtney E. Martin is an accomplished author and speaker. Her latest book, “Do It Anyway: The New Generation of Activists,” has defined her as one of the most genuine and smart voices of the next generation. She is also a senior correspondent at The American Prospect, an Editor at Feministing.com, and has spoken all over the nation, including on The O’Reilly Factor, CNN, and The Today Show. Courtney brings a fresh, activist perspective with a passion for breaking cultural barriers and stereotypes that can limit work-life progress.
As this year’s Work-Life Rising Stars, Cavanaugh and Martin will be joining a growing cadre of peers who are evolving into the next generation of work-life leadership. They will have the opportunity to enhance their careers in work-life through exposure to leaders in total rewards strategy as well as a variety of activities for professional development. They will also be involved in the selection and mentoring of subsequent years’ Rising Stars.
