SPRINGFIELD, MA – Unemployment Tax Control Associates (UTCA) hosted their 12th Annual Client Update on Thursday, October 8th. UTCA’s breakfast meeting took place at the Sheraton Springfield Monarch Place Hotel & Conference facility in Springfield, MA where nearly 70 guests from Massachusetts and Connecticut attended this year’s event. Those attending were treated to “UTCA’s Q&A” game show program. The audience looked on, as client participants competed for prizes by correctly answering tricky UI questions. The game show format was complete with a musical theme, bells, lights, a contestant panel and UTCA’s own Tim Phelan, acting as program moderator! The program winner, Kim Chatel from YWCA, was honored and received $100 in American Express gift card.
Attorney Meghan Sullivan from the law firm of Sullivan, Hayes, & Quinn gave an informative (if not a bit discouraging) employment law update and answered questions regarding recent law changes and proposed laws that may challenge employers in the coming year. Her presentation was typically insightful, humorous and educational.
The meeting also featured an update on the on-line Claims Management Application (CMA) and highlighted the Client On-Line Learning area of UTCA’s website.
UTCA received positive feedback from attendees after the event. Melissa Evans, HR Partner for Webster Bank, commented, “I was happy to see the event was interactive and fun, this helps clients to stay engaged and focused on the important issues being delivered.” Melissa was one of six panelists to compete in the game show, traveling from Connecticut to participate.
“We consider ourselves very fortunate to represent so many fine organizations, so keenly aware of the need to stay informed about changes in the law and have chosen UTCA to partner with them in this effort. Clearly, they are a motivated group who continue to learn the most effective ways to reduce UI costs,” said Suzanne Murphy, President and CEO of UTCA. “We wish to thank those who attended, and appreciate all the planning and hard work our staff put in to make the event such a wonderful success,” she said.
