October 11, 2011 — Scottsdale, Ariz.— WorldatWork Society of Certified Professionals® announced today that 28 human resource professionals have successfully completed their education and certification under the WorldatWork HR certification scholarship program. Of the 52 scholarships WorldatWork has granted since January 2010, 28 professionals have earned designations as Certified Compensation Professional® (CCP®), Certified Benefits Professional® (CBP), Global Remuneration Professional (GRP®), and Work-Life Certified Professional™ (WLCP®).

Everett Slavik, CCP, Director of Compensation for the State of Oklahoma, applied for the WorldatWork scholarship in March 2010, completed the CCP in July and was promoted to director only two months later. “Certification has given me the knowledge necessary to effectively communicate with public policy makers and navigate the choppy waters of public sector compensation,” said Slavik. “The public sector has had to become innovative in developing pay structures and plans that fit within ever shrinking budgets. WorldatWork training and certification has provided me with the best practices of the private sector that could be modified to fit the unique circumstances of the public sector.”
Applications for a WorldatWork certification scholarship are accepted online on a rolling basis. Scholarships are open to both WorldatWork members and non-members practicing HR anywhere in the world.
Scholarship applicants must submit a 200-word essay describing the importance of certification to their HR career. They also must have performed an HR practitioner role for at least two years. For a complete list of eligibility criteria, visit www.worldatwork.org/scholarship.
