In 2007, the popular human resources and workplace blog, Blogging4Jobs.com was created with one goal, to help job seekers learn the unwritten rules of the job hunt. Nearly 5 years later, the blog’s focus has changed to incorporate job search, workplace, HR, and leadership topics boasting traffic of nearly 100,000 visitors. And today, the blog’s founder, Jessica Miller-Merrell, CEO of Xceptional HR and founder of Blogging4Jobs.com announces a return of sorts to the blog’s original roots with the acquisition of the online job seeker talent community, Secrets of the Job Hunt.
Secrets of the Job Hunt is an online job seeker community founded in 2008 and currently boasts nearly 3,000 members with a goal that aligns with Miller-Merrell’s original mission of the blog which is to help job seekers learn the unwritten rules of the job search. Miller-Merrell announces the acquisition of the online talent community from Chris Russell owner of All County Job Boards.
“The job search remains competitive even with the 8.3% unemployment rate. Many job seekers have simply given up actively looking for work after six months. The Department of Labor’s unemployment reports estimates that nearly 5.5 million workers have been unemployed nearly 7 months. I believe Secrets of the Job Hunt can help me and others help put American back to work,” says Miller-Merrell.
Miller-Merrell is no stranger to the helping job seekers find work one job seeker at the time. In addition to launching her blog, she has hosted her own Internet television show, Job Search Secrets from 2009-2011 and currently serves as a co-moderator of the first Twitter chat for job seekers, #JobHuntChat held on Mondays at 10:00 PM EST.
“New job seeker resources and tools will slowly be made to the community and at no charge,” says Miller-Merrell. “I’m currently in talks with a number of well-respected career and job seeker experts to join the community.”
