TRACOM Group Offers Insight for Improved Workplace Performance

Highlands Ranch, Colo. -– Oct. 6, 2009 –- Research shows that interpersonal skills are highly predictive of success, particularly as individuals progress through a career. Research from TRACOM shows that managers with high Versatility perform significantly better than their peers in critical business areas. Versatility is the ability to adjust one’s own behaviors in each situation in order to maximize workplace productivity. A recent research study from Colorado State University found a significant link between TRACOM’s Versatility measure and independent measures of Emotional Intelligence (EQ).

TRACOM’s new guide, “Achieving Higher Versatility Resource Guide,” provides direction for understanding and improving personal versatility, which leads to improved relationships and higher productivity in the workplace. The guide also explains how people evaluate behaviors and provides specific advice for adjusting behaviors to improve effectiveness, particularly when people of different SOCIAL STYLES interact. TRACOM’S SOCIAL STYLE is the world’s best-known model for improving interpersonal effectiveness.

In a study documenting the relationship between Versatility and job performance, TRACOM found that managers with higher Versatility are 27 percent better at leading teams, 25 percent better at coaching others and 19 percent more likely to be promoted than their peers. TRACOM also found that Versatility and Emotional Intelligence skills are strong predictors of job performance, better than measures, such as intelligence, education and personality.

“The ability to understand others and make informed decisions to work effectively with people of varying work styles differentiates top performers from average and low performers,” said David Collins, TRACOM vice president for Training Products. “The Achieving Higher Versatility guide provides specific, actionable advice to build strong, productive working relationships with others regardless of a person’s Style, job title or role.”
