Assess Systems Chosen to Present at SIOP Annual Conference

DALLAS, May 14, 2014–Assess Systems will deliver five presentations and exhibit at the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology (SIOP) annual conference, which will be held May 15 through 17 in Honolulu, Hawaii. Assess Systems provides Talent Selection and People Development solutions for companies in a variety of industries, some of which include restaurant, hospitality, retail, healthcare and banking.

The Assess Systems team will present the following sessions:
– “Profiling Integrity: LPA of Personality and Integrity on Performance” will discuss an investigation of the interactive effects of personality and overt integrity constructs using latent profile analysis (LPA) in a large managerial sample.

– “Personality’s Flynn Effect: Recent Upward Trends in Personality Scores” is a symposium that will evaluate recently shifting norms in personality scores and discuss the implications for the use of personality assessments. Using evidence from large samples, the following questions will be examined: Are people scoring the same now as they did 10 years ago? Why would they change? Are people learning how to “fake” personality tests? Are there differences between domestic vs. international samples? Do men/women, or various races, differ in their score adjustment over time?

– “A Profile of Profiles: A Meta-Analysis of Commitment Profiles” will take a novel person-centric approach in examining the predictors of organizational commitment profiles, combining LPA with meta-analysis. This differs from the variable-centered approach used by the few studies to date that have examined the predictors of commitment profiles.

– “It’s Not You, It’s Me: Candidate Selection Process Drop-Out Rates” will discuss analyses of how demographic information differentially predicts candidate drop-off in the candidate selection process. Three demographic categories were analyzed–race, age and sex..

– “Assessor Perspectives: Yin & Yang of Technology-Enhanced Assessment Centers” is a panel discussion that will highlight the effects of technology on assessment centers. Assessment centers are a popular method by which companies select and develop personnel, and have gone through technology enhancements in recent years to make them both more cost- and time-efficient. Little is known, however, about the impact of these changes on assessors and the assessment process. Five experts will share their diverse experiences and perspectives regarding how technology has changed their experiences in expected and unexpected ways.

“The SIOP annual conference is one of the highlights of the year for us, and we’re excited to share our research with respected colleagues,” said Keith McCook, Ph.D., Assess Systems’ Director of Research & Science. “The presentations are driven by research and science and will be of interest to industrial and organizational psychologists. Ultimately, we hope the information will add to the field’s understanding, as well as empower I-O psychologists to help the organizations they serve improve their talent selection and people development practices.”
