Assess Systems' Stephanie Butler Is Key Member of Panel That Will Discuss How Technology Has Changed the Assessment Industry

DALLAS, October 21, 2014 — Stephanie Butler, Ph.D., Assess Systems’ Senior Director of Leadership Solutions, will be a panelist in a discussion about how technology has impacted the role of an assessor, to be held at the 38th International Congress on Assessment Center Methods, October 23-24 in Alexandria, Virginia.

During the session, entitled “Assessor Perspectives: The Yin and Yang of Technology-Enhanced Assessment Centers,” the following topics will be discussed:

– Types of technology used by assessors and how technology has changed the way assessors operate.
– Advantages and potential pitfalls of technology-enhanced assessment centers.
– Additional skills that assessors need for technology-enhanced assessment centers.
– Impact that technology has had on the quality of ratings.
– Reactions of participants, stakeholders and administrators to technology-enhanced assessment centers,
– Recommendations for assessors using technology-enhanced assessment centers.

The other experts participating in the panel include Lynn Collins, Ph.D., and Sandra B. Hartog, Ph.D., of SH&A Fenestra Inc.; Jessica Osedach, Ph.D., of Bank of America; Sandra Schlebusch of LeMaSa; and Janis Ward, Ph.D., of J.M. Ward Consulting.

“I am pleased to have been invited to be a part of this panel. In my 26 years of experience, I’ve seen technology make a significant impact on the assessment center industry,” Butler said. “Since their first use in World War I, assessment centers have been viewed by many as highly valuable but resource intensive. Technology-enhanced assessment centers preserve the integrity and value of assessment centers while simplifying scheduling, increasing flexibility and decreasing or eliminating travel costs associated with the process.

“Moreover, I’ve seen technology-enhanced assessment centers evolve from being exclusively used to identify and develop leaders at lower levels of organizations to being used for senior executive levels.”

Assess Systems CEO Steve Sasser said Butler was a great choice to be a panelist, noting that the panel was invited to participate in the upcoming conference after speaking at the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology Annual Conference earlier this year.

“Stephanie has great knowledge of assessment technology, and she couples that with her tremendous ability to convey information clearly and effectively,” Sasser said. “She plays a key role on our team as we continue to advance the positive impact technology can deliver in workforce science, specifically in the assessment field.”
