Atlanta, Jan. 15, 2015 — The leading background-screening company InfoMart Inc. has received a highly respected Optimas Award from Workforce magazine, a business publication serving the human resources industry since 1922. InfoMart received silver in the Corporate Citizenship category for its programs focused on employee total well-being.
With winners noted for identifying a serious business issue within their organization and implementing a successful HR strategy, InfoMart’s I’m InfoMart program did more than generate positive results. Initially created in 2011, this HR strategy produced such outcomes with the efforts of the very staff it was created to support.
Made up of employee-led committees, these groups afford each staff member the opportunity to make a contribution to the company in ways that go beyond processing background checks. InfoMart’s employees are also given a way to grow their own interests in a way that benefits themselves, the company and the community as a whole.
It is this “by the people, for the people” attitude that first inspired Tammy Cohen, President of InfoMart, to move forward with this project.
“InfoMart has always been an innovator in the background screening industry,” says Cohen, “and we wanted to ensure that we were just as forward-thinking when it came to our own staff’s well-being. We also wanted to imbue InfoMart’s core value of service in our HR program, which is why we work so hard to prioritize our employees and community in all that we do.”
This forward-thinking mindset is exactly what garnered attention from the Optimas Awards.
“Too often, the work of innovative HR departments flies under the radar, unnoticed by many outside their organizations,” said Mike Prokopeak, editor in chief of Human Capital Media, which publishes Workforce magazine. “The Workforce Optimas Awards are an opportunity to celebrate more broadly the important work HR departments across the world are doing to develop meaningful and effective solutions to significant workplace challenges — and deliver noteworthy results in the process.”
The I’m InfoMart program offers five committees to address such challenges, each of which are dedicated to generating positive outcomes around a specific facet of employee prosperity. If a staff member has an interest in planning holiday events, they can join the group appropriately titled I’m Celebrating. Other options include I’m Giving, which focuses on volunteering and community service; I’m Fit, for those with a passion for physical and mental health activities; I’m Living, to help educate on the benefits of a work-life balance and financial stability; and I’m Growing, which cultivates a drive for leadership.
All Optimas winners were featured in the December 2014 issue of Workforce magazine. For more information on the Optimas Awards, please visit Workforce.com/optimas.
