TROY, Mich. — August 3, 2015 — KellyOCG(R), the outsourcing and consulting group of Kelly Services(R) (Nasdaq: KELYA, KELYB) recently released the results of its third annual Executive Outlook Survey that highlights the importance of economics and ecosystems in the talent supply chain process. The survey was conducted by BTI Consultants, a specialized practice of KellyOCG.
More than 219 individuals, across a diverse range of types, sectors, size and location, participated in the 2015 – 16 survey addressing the topic of “Economics and Ecosystems: Leadership in the New Frontier.” Eighty percent of the survey respondents are based in Asia Pacific, 10 percent are located in the Americas and nine percent are from Europe. Industry sectors represented include manufacturing, consulting, health and pharmaceuticals, financial services and insurance, property, and oil and gas.
A talent ecosystem is the notion of having the talent pool available to any business as not simply a static entity but as an extended and evolving array of relationships. The current survey results indicate that in an expanding economy, businesses have the opportunity to enhance their competitive edge by cost-effectively mining their talent ecosystems to simultaneously benefit business goals and human capital.
“In a talent ecosystem, workers can move between roles, places, and categories as they desire or according to an employer’s needs. This means that companies need to maintain a holistic view of the talent ecosystem and in what manner workers can best be employed in order to meet the organization’s objectives in the most risk-free and cost-effective manner possible,” said Anthony Raja Devadoss, vice president of APAC region for KellyOCG. “Only by taking a holistic and agile view of the talent ecosystem will companies be able to create a sustainable talent management strategy.”
A talent ecosystem goes beyond a traditional talent pool and conventional employee-employer arrangements. It can include:
– borrowed talent: employees in outsourced support functions or roles
– partnership talent: workers linked via a joint venture or partnership
– freelance talent: contractors, freelancers and free agents
– open source or crowd sourced talent: workers recruited through online networks and communities
Complete survey findings are published in a new report, Executive Outlook 2015-16.
