ECFC Offers New Membership Options

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

WASHINGTON, DC. (April 15, 2011) – The Employers Council on Flexible Compensation (“ECFC”) announced today two new membership options that will help recruit a more diverse cross-section of industry stakeholders to the organization.

Following the introduction of the new membership options, the ECFC now offers a total of four membership categories:

(1) Industry Membership: Available to third party administrators, plan service providers, employee benefit consultants, card processing companies and associations, insurance carriers, banks, industry software vendors, payroll processing companies, and other members of the flexible compensation industry.

(2) Plan Sponsor Membership: Available to employers who offer, promote or are interested in tax-advantaged flexible compensation plans.

(3) Associate Membership: Available to individuals and entities who provide advice and ancillary services to Plan Sponsors and/or Industry Members or who are otherwise interested in the flexible compensation field (including independent insurance agents and brokers, health care practitioners, CPAs, actuaries, and employee benefit lawyers).

(4) Individual Membership: Available to individuals who are employees of state and federal government, educators, and students.

This structure will enable everyone from individuals to service providers to participate in and contribute to an organization that plays a crucial role in representing the flexible spending account industry, particularly in light of the recent changes due to health care reform legislation.

“We believe that these new membership tiers will allow us to better meet the needs of all stakeholders in the employee benefit industry,” said Dennis Triplett, chairman of the ECFC Board. “We look forward to welcoming a wider audience of members to our organization.”

About Employers Council on Flexible Compensation
While the debate over health care reform may have come to an end, the battle over health care regulations is just beginning as the ultimate impact of the law depends on the fine print yet to be written. The ECFC is perfectly positioned to influence the outcome of this battle, from the early stages of regulation to the final implementation of the legislation.

Founded in 1981 by several Fortune 500 companies pioneering flexible benefit plans, the ECFC was established to create and maintain the most favorable legislative, regulatory and public opinion environment for the expansion of private employee benefit programs and has been at the forefront of implementation and policymaking for account-based health care, including Cafeteria Plans, HRAs and HSAs.
