Chapin, S.C. — David Bartley, executive vice president of General Information Services, Inc. (GIS), will be included on the privacy panel at 1:15 p.m. Oct. 4 during the SILA National Education Conference in Austin, Texas.
The panel, titled “Privacy & Protection — Best Practices of Carriers and Agencies” will address data security from the perspective of insurance agencies and companies that provide services to the insurance agencies. GIS is among those companies that provide services to insurance agencies, providing leading background screening solutions, agent onboarding solutions and other insurance-industry specific solutions.
“At GIS, the very nature of our business requires that we remain extremely sensitive to corporate and personal data privacy,” says Bartley. “Every GIS employee at every level is aware of how his or her particular work function impacts data privacy and that he or she is responsible for maintaining a consistent approach towards protecting data privacy.”
Bartley continued, saying that, “whether GIS is processing agent background investigations, life insurance inspections reports or general corporate employment background investigations, we recognize the very best solutions and technology do not maintain their value to our customers without a strong strategic approach to data privacy.”
What’s more, other background screening agencies have recently announced their plans to move some of their operations outside of the United States. GIS protects its customers by keeping sensitive data about its customers and their people in the United States.
Bartley has been with GIS since 1988, working his way up the ranks from Investigative Reporter to Manager of Operations, Vice President of Operations and finally Executive Vice President. David’s experience throughout the organization has given him a unique insight into how privacy laws have changed and how GIS’ policies have changed as a result.
SILA, or the Security & Insurance Licensing Association, brings together licensing experts from all facets of the process. The SILA National Education Conference is a yearly event that includes a number of sessions, an exhibit fair, and a variety of training and networking opportunities. GIS can be found at booth 29 at the SILA exhibit fair.
