HCI Announces Government Talent Summit to be Held in Reston Virginia, September 26 – 28, 2011

Washington, D.C., September 15, 2011 — The Human Capital Institute announced today the 2011 HCI Government Talent Summit, the paramount strategic government talent management event, which will take place from September 26-28, 2011 at the Hyatt Regency Reston in Reston, Virginia.

Federal agencies face major talent management challenges now more than ever including concerns with pay freezes, tax cuts, the budget crisis, and a smaller government. In the 2011 State of the Union address, President Obama issued a call to action; the U.S. must be number one again, and this must start with every citizen, every business, and every agency.

The solution to all of these challenges is not possible without the right human capital. HCI’s premier conference on government talent management provides an opportunity to hear from some of the most exciting and respected thought leaders in the space, as well as from senior practitioners who are grappling with engagement, productivity, and retention of top talent at the front lines of their own organizations.

The 2011 HCI Government Talent Summit will feature keynotes from Pasquale (Pat) M. Tamburrino, Jr., Deputy Assistant Secretary for Civilian Personnel policy, U.S. Department of Defense and Lieutenant General Andrew Graham, Director of the Defence Academy of the United Kingdom, Colonel of the Royal Regiment of Scotland as well as presentations from notables such as Bjorn Rother, Acting Chief, HRD Strategy Unit at the International Monetary Fund and Author of “The Determinants of Currency Crises: A Political Economy Approach,” and Peter J. Shelby, M.Ed., MBA, SPHR, Chief Learning Officer for National Reconnaissance University.

The event will be sponsored by leading corporations, including Diamond sponsors Adecco RPO, Booz Allen Hamilton, IBM, Kenexa, Oracle, Taleo, and Monitor. Gold sponsors include Beacon, Career Builder, CPS HR Consulting, Emergent Performance Solutions, Online Rewards, SAP, TMP Government, U.S. Office of Personnel Management, and Valtera.

At the pre-conference workshop on Monday, September 26th, HCI’s Chief Learning Officer will provide an executive briefing on HCI’s new framework to guide workplace improvements. Then, Monitor will present a three hour workshop entitled “Closing the Capability Gap: Strategic Human Capital Management,” which will provide attendees a new way of thinking about strategic human capital management in the face of mounting pressures to attract and retain talent.

The conference will be streamed live for HCI members and guests who have registered for the virtual conference. For more information or to register for the virtual conference, visit: http://www.hci.org/government/virtual.
