See “Freelance Nation” September 2010

Washington, D.C. – September 10, 2010 – Human Capital Institute (HCI), the global association for strategic talent management, was featured today in Entrepreneur Magazine’s September 2010 edition in a cover story, “Freelance Nation”, about the growing use of contract/freelance talent in today’s businesses.

“Contract Talent has always been an important segment of the workforce,” Katie Ratkiewicz, the Practice Leader for HCI’s Organizational Development and Leadership team. “In today’s business environment, organizations are increasingly leveraging this segment to achieve increased workforce flexibility, agility and overall stronger business results. HCI’s latest research demonstrates how the organizational practices around Contract Talent are evolving and maturing.”

The latest research from HCI is a report entitled, “Contract Talent: An Imperative for Talent Management in the New Normal”. Data from more than 200 global organizations was collected and analyzed to provide a portrait of Contract Talent at this point in time, to better understand how this segment is being used and managed within organizations. HCI partnered with members of its Contract Talent Practice Area – Allegis Group Services, TAPFIN, MBO Partners, IQ Navigator, the Guidant Group, Fieldglass and Emptoris to conduct this latest research.

HCI’s next Contract Talent research report will build on the initial findings of this report, and will examine how organizations currently integrate the management of Contract Talent into their overall Talent Management programs, and offer best practices for how to do this effectively. This next report will be published in November 2010.
