HealthcareSource Announces Winners of 2011 New-to-the-Profession ASHHRA Annual Conference Grant

Phoenix, AZ and Woburn, Mass — September 12, 2011 — HealthcareSource®, the leader in talent management software solutions for the healthcare industry, today announced the three winners of the second HealthcareSource 2011 New-to-the-Profession ASHHRA Annual Conference Grants. These grants enable the winners to attend the 2011 ASHHRA 47th Annual Conference & Exposition taking place September 10-13, 2011 in Phoenix, AZ.

These grants provide financial assistance to healthcare HR practitioners who are new in their careers and wish to attend the ASHHRA Conference. The grant fulfills a commitment commonly shared by both ASHHRA and HealthcareSource to support the next generation of healthcare HR leaders with educational and networking opportunities.

The grant recipients were recognized at a special reception on September 10, where Michael DiPietro, Vice President, Marketing and Product Management at HealthcareSource commented: “Supporting over 1,500 hospital clients, HealthcareSource is dedicated to improving quality care though quality talent. Through our HealthcareSource New-to-the-Profession ASHHRA Annual Conference Grants, we honor a select group of new healthcare HR, professionals and assist in their future success. The 2011 HealthcareSource New-to-the-Profession ASHHRA Annual Conference Grant winners are:

Cathy Henesey, SPHR — Manager, Career Services Children’s Medical Center of Dallas (TX)
While she has worked in HR for 20 years, Cathy recently entered the healthcare field because, “I saw a tremendous opportunity to bring my Fortune 100 experience into an industry that could use advanced social media and sourcing expertise, while providing me an opportunity to work in a sector that really does put its customers first.” Cathy says she’s “really looking forward” to participating in the educational sessions of the ASHHRA conference, especially those focused on healthcare finance, recruiting and labor market, metrics and leadership development. “By attending those sessions I can bring home valuable information and lessons that can help our organization,” said Henesey.

Ursula Pawlowski, MSHRMD– Talented new healthcare HR professional seeking job near Chicago
A recent recipient of a Master’s degree in Human Resource Management and Development, Ursula is seeking to apply her education and experience in a challenging healthcare HR position. While pursuing her degree, Ursula served as an HR intern at ASHHRA’s headquarters office in Chicago, which further inspired her to pursue her chosen career direction: “This grant is priceless for me now as it will allow me to attend 2011 ASHHRA Annual Conference in Phoenix where I will network with people I never dreamed I would ever meet, as well as give me an extremely valuable experience to learn more about healthcare HR.”

Chris White — HR Professional and Advocacy Center Director (Brownsville, TX)
In 2008, building on her experience as an at-home mother, office manager of a small business, and active leader in community organizations, Chris joined the HR department of a leading South Texas nonprofit health care system. Starting there as a temporary employee, within three years Chris was promoted to Benefits Supervisor, where she focused on employee orientation, benefits administration, testing and other activities: “I’m very excited to attend the ASHHRA conference. I see it as a great opportunity to grow my network with other HR professionals and receive education on best practices and policies. I’m most interested in identifying specific strategies that can increase employee engagement,” said White.
