Despite the economic setback and higher unemployment rates associated with the coronavirus crisis, talent acquisition (TA) remains a high priority for most organizations. Recent human resources (HR) research found that most HR professionals (81%) say their organization considers hiring the best talent to still be among their top ten priorities. Fewer, however, say hiring great talent is their single top priority (17%) or among their top three priorities (26%).
The free research report, The Future of Talent Acquisition 2020, is now available for download. HR.com’s Research Institute conducted the study of HR professionals to get a snapshot of what the TA function looks like now and what it will look like in the future as far as hiring goals and critical technology.
Study results also found that few participants work for organizations that excel in the art of recruitment. In fact, HR.com’s research revealed that less than a third of organizations (just 29%) say their TA function is either “advanced” or “top-notch” as defined by the study. Moreover, the current crisis is making it more difficult to achieve excellence in this area. When respondents were asked about the biggest barriers to TA success today, they were most likely to cite a lack of certainty about the future.
“Now more than ever, it’s essential that employers make their recruitment planning a priority to prepare for future uncertainty with agility and anticipation,” stated Debbie McGrath, Chief Instigator and CEO of HR.com. “It’s time to ensure strategic recruitment goals are in place based on the skills gaps and potential changes.”
