Jacksons Point, Ontario, Canada – HR.com, the largest network of human resources (HR) professionals, has announced their Learning & Development (L&D) department’s quarterly contest for micro-lesson submissions. One grand prize winner will be selected, along with 2nd and 3rd place winners, awarding $300 USD to the 1st prize winner. HR and learning experts in any area of HR are welcome to submit a micro-lesson video by 12:00 AM EST September 30th, 2021.
The micro-lesson videos will be evaluated based on the criteria of the competition and application of the HR.com “4 Pillar Methodology.” All contestants’ submissions may be selected for HR.com’s online library of video-based and interactive micro-lessons for HR professionals – content creators receive an invitation to be paid residual income.
Micro-lessons should be geared to meet the needs of HR professionals. Instructional designers looking to learn about or expand on their knowledge of micro-lessons and/or creative individuals willing to leverage technology to plan and design engaging micro-lessons to help HR professionals to do their jobs better are a great fit for this contest and are welcome to submit.
Typical HR.com micro-lessons are “just-in-time training” lessons approximately four to eleven minutes in length with a singular focus limited to one or two performance objectives. Each module strives to focus on developing or improving one skill set. They should go beyond just knowledge acquisition and be focused on how learners can incorporate and apply this new knowledge in the future in their specific role, industry, or workplace.
The “4 Pillar Methodology” of micro-lessons include:
- Pillar 1: Connect – How will the micro-lesson connect with the learner?
- Pillar 2: Engage – How will the micro-lesson engage with the learner to drive understanding and teach the content in ways that encourage reflection, participation and learning?
- Pillar 3: Strategies – How will the micro-lesson put knowledge into action?
- Pillar 4: Implement – How will the micro-lesson guide learners to implement their chosen strategy and create their own action plans?
HR.com will share four sample micro-lessons. For those interested, HR.com will provide access to a short online educational course on “4 Pillars of Effective Learning Design.”
