HR Needs to Leverage Technologies in the Retail and Hospitality Industries to Boost Efficiency and Lower Costs – New Research from HR.com

In large Retail and Hospitality organizations today, Human Resources (HR) departments are dealing with high turnover and low retention challenges. These challenges not only drive down productivity and raise labor costs but cause a variety of other problems in the areas of compliance, scheduling, absenteeism, and alignment.

HR.com, in partnership with Ceridian, human capital management technology leader, investigated the obstacles for HR, specifically in Retail and Hospitality. This recently released research report, “Key Workforce Management Issues Affecting the Retail and Hospitality Industries,” summarizes the findings from the industry study. The survey targeted only HR professionals in the retail and hospitality industries who work for organizations with 1,000 or more employees.

The report also provides insights to help HR departments address the importance of technology. Results indicate that Retail and Hospitality organizations with high-performing technology are less likely to have retention problems and compliance issues. They are also more prepared for government audits and legislative changes, compared to lower-performing technology companies.

“Retention is definitely an ongoing challenge for the retail and hospitality businesses. These industries are typically lacking data and tracking, so it’s not surprising that results point to the necessary adoption of high-quality, real-time technologies to cut down on retention problems and to stay compliant,” stated Debbie McGrath, Chief Instigator and CEO of HR.com.
