New Webinar Teaches Leaders the Importance of Emotional Intelligence

Glendora, Calif. / October 21, 2010 — Emotional intelligence is the key for leaders to reach their full potential, and a new webinar from The Glowan Consulting Group will teach managers and team leaders how to assess and develop it in the workplace.

The leadership and executive coaching firm will host “Emotional Intelligence” on Thursday, October 28, from 10-11 a.m. Pacific Time (1-2 p.m. Eastern Time). The 45-minute webinar will translate the latest science on emotion and performance and review practical strategies for leaders and team members to become more effective.

The firm’s three principals — John Anderson, Marc Michaelson and Kevin Grossman — will introduce and explain the concept of emotional intelligence (EI): having an honest and accurate self-awareness and awareness of others’ emotions, which can improve decision-making and positively influence and motivate others.

“Research shows that individuals who reach their full potential in life and in the workplace have a greater degree of people skills,” said Michaelson. “Seventy five percent of careers get derailed because of emotional intelligence issues. These individuals are typically unable to handle interpersonal issues, to adapt to change, or to elicit trust.”

The content-packed webinar will also include the following:

• The “Emotional Intelligence” presentation prior to the live event
• A brief EI assessment with results review and follow-up after the webinar
• Glowan’s white paper “Applying Emotional Intelligence: Why Successful Leaders Need This Critical Skill” (delivered upon registration)
• Weekly EI tips via e-mail
• An introduction to the Glowan Smart Skills™ program

Registration is $149 and is available by visiting:

“The concept of emotional intelligence is still fairly new to the workplace and to leaders; however, it’s backed by two decades of reliable and valid science,” said Grossman. “Companies who focus on EI assessing in hiring and developing EI in existing managers and employees see a dramatic increase in productivity, retention and revenue. This webinar will deliver a foundational introduction to emotional intelligence aimed at today’s leadership.”
