Inaugural Webcast, ‘The ROI of Rewarding Talent: Skill-Based Pay,’ Scheduled for November 18 on www.hci.org

Washington, D.C. – December 11, 2009 – The Human Capital Institute (HCI), a global professional association advancing the science of strategic talent management, announced today that Oracle Human Capital Management, the leading human resource management system (HRMS) vendor worldwide, is sponsoring HCI’s “The ROI in Talent and Talent Management” education and research track.

“The ROI in Talent and Talent Management” is among several topics addressed in HCI’s Talent Leadership community of interest, an online community HCI and its more than 160,000 members consider critical to organizations working to leverage human capital. The track and its content, part of www.hci.org, can be accessed directly at http://www.hci.org/hci/tracks_roi_talent_management.guid.

The track’s inaugural webcast, “The ROI of Rewarding Talent: Skill-Based Pay,” will be broadcast live on Weds., Nov. 18 from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. ET on www.hci.org. Guest presenter Patti Phillips, CEO and President, ROI Institute, will introduce an ROI methodology most often applied to measure the success of talent management investments, and will present a case study that demonstrates how one organization applied the ROI process to address a talent retention problem, when they rewarded talent for critical skills.

Pre-registration for the free event is required at http://www.hci.org/hci/events_register.guid?_trainingID=1344&_trainingScheduleID=20340.

“Enterprise-wide talent management — recruiting, developing and retaining talent — is key to staying competitive and successfully achieving business goals, regardless of the organization,” said Tracy Martin, Senior Director, HCM Product Strategy, Oracle. “However, it remains a challenge to demonstrate the business case to support and fund efforts related to talent management. It is essential to demonstrate concrete ROI for talent management, and to share metrics that clearly show how those efforts help the bottom line.”

“Measuring talent’s contribution to the bottom line is key to making the talent management business case,” said Bill Craib, Vice President, HCI Center for Human Capital Excellence. “Oracle’s expertise in this area is a boon to the growing HCI community, which will net tangible, real-world solutions from the new ROI in Talent and Talent Management track.”

HCI’s “The ROI in Talent and Talent Management” track explores how to measure talent’s contribution to the bottom line: the metrics used, data required, how such data is collected and how it is being used. It covers different ways of assessing ROI, including cost per hire/employee, retention, productivity and development plans. It also looks at how to leverage technology in making the business case for talent management and the ROI in talent.

More information about “The ROI in Talent and Talent Management,” as well as HCI’s other education and research tracks, is available at www.hci.org.
