Norwalk, CT — March 25, 2010 – PerfectSoftware, a leading HR and payroll software provider, has released Payroll 10.0, the latest version of its payroll solution and core component of its Perfect Human Capital Management (HCM) suite.

The newest release of Payroll includes several key enhancements that provide clients additional process efficiencies, improved ease-of-use, and advanced application performance.

Introduced in this release are new automated tax discovery features like Geocoding, which automatically determines applicable state and local payroll tax rates, based on an employee’s address. Geocoding eliminates the guesswork associated with setting up employees whose zip code overlaps multiple local tax jurisdictions. The automated tax discovery features include federal, state and a full complement of county, local and school taxes. The tax lists and tables are maintained by PerfectSoftware, so no user maintenance is required. The system also accommodates custom tax configurations, when necessary.

“A number of states, Pennsylvania and Ohio among them, have an expansive list of local tax jurisdictions and employers must accurately withhold from their employees’ wages. The use of Geocoding relieves those employers of the need to research and maintain the complex tax rules for every employee,” states Brian Kesselman, PerfectSoftware’s Chief Information Officer and head of product development.

Another feature of the release is the automatic calculation of state reciprocity for employees living or working in more than one state where reciprocity agreements exist.

Most visible of the enhancements is a new graphical interface that improves usability and performance, in part through the widespread incorporation of the latest Microsoft AJAX technologies and an upgrade to the Microsoft.NET version 3.5 application framework.

Other notable features include new batch processing that allows processing of larger payrolls, and closer integration between PerfectSoftware and third-party applications.

The enhanced Payroll module is a fully-integrated component of the Perfect HCM Suite, accessible via single-sign on. The Suite is delivered as Software-as-a-Service (SaaS), and requires no expensive hardware or software investment to use. Software updates are administered remotely by PerfectSoftware, so no in-house technical personnel are needed to manage the application.

“All of the key enhancements were driven by valuable feedback provided by our clients,” said Kesselman. “We regularly solicit their input to enhance the user experience and expand the capabilities of our products.”
