During “Hot Topics in HR Compliance,” TALX Legal Compliance specialist, Gordon Middleton will examine timely HR compliance topics for the current quarter. Attendees will hear about pressing considerations for background and credit checks at both the state and federal levels, and be lead through the staggering number of EEOC suits brought over the past year. In this NYS SHRM concurrent session, Middleton will provide participants with the tools necessary to combat current legal trends and update employee handbooks.

TALX will also provide additional industry expertise at the upcoming SHRM Missouri State Conference, taking place from Wednesday, August 3 through Friday, August 5, 2011. To help HR professionals understand the benefits of assessment tools, Reid Klion, Ph.D. and Chief Science Officer for pan, the assessment division of TALX, will guide participants through benefits, options and steps involved in implementing a pre-employment assessment program. During “Assessment Tools in HR — They’re Not as Intimidating as You Think!” attendees will hear case examples and the practical importance of assessments to HR practitioners.

Also presenting at the Missouri conference will be Scott Bankert, director of Employment Tax Services at TALX. During “Recessionary Impact on Unemployment Costs,” Barkert will provide an overview of the national economy, including state trust fund solvency, current legislative trends, and American Recovery and Reinvestment Act updates. Session participants learn unemployment tax strategies that can help minimize risk and forecast future tax rates.
