CEOs of Twitter and Clif Bar Share How They Lead Their People by Example at the 12th Annual Conference

SAN FRANCISCO (March 12, 2015) – Two CEOs of the Bay Area’s most widely recognized companies will head to Dallas, Texas next month to kick off the Great Place to Work(R) Annual Conference. CEO of Twitter, Dick Costolo and CEO of Clif Bar, Kevin Cleary will provide key insights on the success of their award-winning cultures on April 22-23 at the Hyatt Regency Dallas and via live web stream.

“Our Annual Conference is a unique opportunity for business leaders to come together, learn from each other and discover new ways to evolve their workplace with their laser focus on the overall employee experience,” said China Gorman, CEO of Great Place to Work. “Dick Costolo, Kevin Cleary and our other extremely inspiring leaders are shining leaders of organizations that put their people first, a core foundation that each of these companies attribute to their long-term business success.”

In addition to Twitter debuting this year on the Fortune 100 Best Companies to Work For(R) list, Dick Costolo has become one of Silicon Valley’s most well-regarded CEOs. Costolo is known by his employees to lead through example, helping to foster a culture of transparency at this growing technology firm. In his fireside chat keynote with Fortune senior editor Christopher Tkaczyk, Costolo will share his thoughts and experiences on making sure employees understand the company’s goals and values while in a state of rapid growth, how he educates employees on how to lead, and continually reinforces the company’s radical internal transparency. This session will include the opportunity for people to submit questions via Twitter.

Kevin Cleary, an athlete by nature who joined Clif Bar in 2004, is lauded not only for leading a multiple bottom line company but for also promoting wellness in the workplace and being approachable to employees, two key principles that reinforces the passion of employees at this company devoted to health and wellbeing. The company’s facilities, including an on-site gym, rock climbing wall, yoga/dance rooms and massage rooms, enable employees to maintain an energetic and balanced work life and Cleary sets an example by incorporating fitness into his workday, arriving to meetings in his workout clothes. Clif Bar’s employees own 20 percent of this Best Medium Workplace.

This year’s conference will feature best people practices and trends by other workplace leaders across all industries that walk the talk, from companies such as Cisco, American Express, Mayo Clinic, SAS, and Goldman Sachs. These companies clearly recognize workplace culture as integral to any successful business strategy. Speakers will give attendees an exclusive look at how to most effectively motivate, connect and engage employees and provide key takeaways they’ve implemented in their own organizations. The one-of-a-kind Great Place to Work(R) Annual Conference also provides the chance to network with peers from hundreds of companies across multiple industries, to gain inspiration during breakout sessions from the biggest names in business and to walk away with tangible takeaways to bring back to any organization to improve and maintain a great workplace.
