TORONTO, May 31, 2011/MILTON, ON – AFI International, North America’s leader in crisis management and response, is pleased to announce the appointment of Dan Meadows as Director of Operations. Dan assumes the position at AFI’s head office effective immediately.

In this new role, Mr. Meadows will handle the explosive growth area of crisis and disaster response along with field operations on a daily basis. His hands-on senior management skills will provide a welcome additional resource for AFI’s executive team who are busy working to keep ahead of their clients ever expanding needs nationally and internationally.

As a resident of both Canada and the United States, Dan Meadows brings an illustrious 30-plus year career that includes leadership roles in the military and the police force. He has previously spent 6 years as part of the military’s special operations team with the US Army stationed in the Middle East. From the military, he transitioned to law enforcement and enjoyed a more than 20 year career in police services, beginning as a patrolman, running the ambulance in West Central Louisiana and ending up in Savannah, Georgia as a detective and homicide investigator for Chatham County. Meadows’ has also had exceptional crisis response experience and has served at countless disaster sites, such as Hurricane Katrina.

“I’ve been working in disaster response since 1989 — and was 3rd day on the ground after Katrina hit — 2nd day on the ground after Hurricane Ike,” says Meadows. “It is experience that has prepared me well for this disaster response management challenge…and I am proud to join forces with a group of operational experts whose sense of professionalism exceeds much of what I have seen around the world”

“Dan has been well-conditioned to thoroughly understand disaster relations, having lived and worked in those environments and dealt with crime, violence and displaced families for decades,” says Jim Rovers, AFI National VP Crisis and Disaster Response. “For this and many more reasons, we are thrilled to welcome this crisis response veteran to our management team.”
