Speakers include executives from Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center
Pittsburgh, May 20, 2010 – Four keynote speakers will discuss how America’s flagship health systems are changing at “Healthcare Goes Lean” on Friday, June 18 at Boston’s Harvard Medical School. Hosted by Select International, the complimentary event will outline how healthcare organizations can significantly improve quality of services and the overall patient experience by applying the proven hiring and lean operating principles used in other industries.
Two senior leaders from Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center will speak about laying the groundwork for lean transformation in healthcare facilities. Lisa Zankman, Senior Vice President of Human Resources, and Alice Lee, Vice President, Business Transformation, will answer the questions of why an organization should move to lean, what to expect and how to position lean internally.
Michael Hoseus, former Toyota corporate leader and co-author of the bestselling book, The Toyota Culture: The Heart and Soul of the Toyota Way, will discuss how healthcare can benefit from Toyota’s 50 years of lessons learned in lean operations. He will provide the ABC’s of a lean implementation in healthcare and review models that are being used successfully today.
Kevin Klinvex, co-founder of Select International and co-author of the business bestseller, Hiring Great People, rounds out the panel. He will talk about the transformation of hiring in healthcare and will review new competency models, testing inventories, and interview questions that support lean operations.
“Healthcare organizations experience many of the same challenges,” said Klinvex. “Applying hiring and lean operating principles is helping the healthcare industry by preventing medical mistakes and improving quality outcomes, while also controlling costs.”
