Cleveland, OH, December 6, 2013–Throughout 2013, the background screening industry saw lawsuits and counter-suits related to discriminatory hiring practices alongside a parade of states sounding the “ban the box” rallying cry. Against this sometimes contentious backdrop, global screening provider EmployeeScreenIQ aims to find out the issues that most concern human resources professionals through its much-anticipated, fifth annual survey, measuring trends in employment background screening.
What has been the impact of the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) guidance nearly two years later? How are employers handling job applicants with criminal records? These trends, along with credit checks, resume distortion, and social media searches are among the serious challenges facing the HR community when conducting background checks. In its new survey, EmployeeScreenIQ seeks to measure the various influences on employers’ hiring decisions and how they respond when adverse information is revealed.
Human resources professionals, hiring managers, recruiters and industry experts across North America are encouraged to contribute to the survey here. All participants will receive an executive summary of the survey results when they become available and the opportunity to win one of two $250 American Express gift cards. Last year, just shy of 1,000 individuals took part in the EmployeeScreenIQ survey and the company is anticipating an even greater response to this year’s questionnaire.
“We are hoping to duplicate and even improve upon the overwhelming response we experienced to last year’s survey,” says Nick Fishman, chief marketing officer for EmployeeScreenIQ. “In these challenging times for employers, I think our industry is eager to both share and to learn from one another in regards to hiring issues and best practices.”
