Inspire 2020 breaks attendance record with largest virtual HR conference

HR.com, the largest network of human resource (HR) executives, teamed up with HRCI® to host the ultimate HR virtual event – Inspire 2020. The event attracted over 55,000 registrations and provided participants five days of relevant, timely HR content from a powerhouse lineup of speakers.

Inspire filled the gap this season left by canceled events, postponed conferences, travel restrictions, and public safety concerns due to the COVID-19 public health epidemic. The entire event could be accessed from the convenience of home to stay safe and save on travel costs.

The Inspire 2020 team nearly doubled their registration goal and broke the record for the largest virtual HR conference. Attendees tuned in from over 90 different countries to participate, engaging with educational content and networking opportunities with exhibitors and sponsors, learning best practices and the latest HR insights. Over one third of attendees were manager level and above.

HR.com opened up credit access, allowing attendees to earn unlimited HRCI credits or SHRM PDCs to reach their professional certification goals. In the week following the conference, the event archives saw over 5,000 views, which allowed more professionals to obtain CU credits for HRCI and SHRM certification. Recorded webcast sessions are archived and available for viewing and credit-earning opportunities here: https://web.hr.com/oehfg

Each day of the virtual event brought new discussions and guidance on how to evolve as a workforce both during and after the effects of COVID-19. A few of the sessions that focused on these concerns included:

  • The 3 Post-COVID “Rs”: Rehire, Rebuild Trust, and Reinvent the Employee Experience
  • Executive Compensation and Leadership in a Pandemic
  • Thriving in a New Normal: 4 Steps HR Leaders Can Take to Support Employees During Re-entry to Work
  • Recruitment Advertising after COVID-19: How To Hire In The New Job Market

The global uproar of protests against racial injustices has been a powerful reminder of the importance of diversity and inclusivity, especially in the workplace. Understanding how to combat personal implicit biases to make a more positive, inclusive work space for others is one of the many D&I topics discussed during Inspire. The sessions that addressed these challenges included:

  • Let’s Dance: Developing Inclusive Training Content with Diversity & Accessibility in Mind
  • It’s On Us: How Leader Intervention Drives Inclusion and Prevents Inequity and Hostility
  • Re-Engaging Your Global Workforce
  • How to Decode Workplace Culture and Use As An Early Warning System

“Inspiration is the first step in sparking a movement for change. This ties into our goal for the participants of Inspire 2020: provide timely resources and information for HR professionals to apply to their own careers and, as a result, create impactful, positive change,” said Debbie McGrath, Chief Instigator and CEO of HR.com. “We were thrilled to be able to fill the HR conference void this season and equip our HR community.”

The event also brought in charitable donations for Feeding America and The Institute for Human Resources to help those affected by COVID-19.

Attendees reflected on their experience at Inspire 2020:

  • “I loved the positivity. We have been bombarded lately with so much difficult news and everyone has been fearful, scared, and on edge. I needed my positive bucket filled and a reminder to help fill others (which will help me too).”

  • “Great presentation; it motivated me as an HR professional to remember why I am an HR professional and what my mission is.”

  • “This was an excellent experience and I came away from this presentation with many ideas and “take-aways” that can be used immediately.”

Steve Gilliland, a top-rated keynote speaker, and member of the Speaker Hall of Fame, emulated, “Only one word can describe my virtual experience on Monday…Awesome! It was an honor and privilege to meet so many people who make HR.com so extraordinary.”
